🔒 GA4 Introduces Enhanced Personal Data Redaction
Source- Google
Google's GA4 introduces a Data Redaction feature to prevent unintentional Personal Identifiable Information(PII) transmission. Enabled by default for new properties and manually for existing ones, it scans events to remove PII-like email addresses. While aiding in "meeting regulatory requirements", Google emphasizes that the "ultimate responsibility" for compliance remains with users, offering real-time monitoring and testing for assurance.
🔍 Google Keyword Planner Removes Keyword Forecasting
Google Ads has discontinued individual and ad group keyword forecasting in Keyword Planner, due to limited use. However, "campaign-level forecasts & historical keyword-level data" still remain. This change, potentially affecting advertising strategy optimization, comes as Keyword Planner uses past data to project keyword performance.
🔍 X to Remove Engagement Counts; Only 'Views' to Stay on Posts
Elon Musk's recent UI changes for platform X hide key interactions in feeds, mimicking Instagram's 2019 "hidden like counts". Critics believe it may decrease engagement, affecting influencer revenues and perceptions of trending content. Proponents suggest it could reduce misinformation and prioritize content quality. As X shifts focus to video, mirroring YouTube's metrics, these changes present a financial gamble for the platform.
🛍️ Discovering holiday shoppers' sources of inspiration
Amidst crucial 2023 holiday shopping trends from a survey of RetailMeNot, 96% of shoppers search for early "holiday inspiration," with influencers affecting 44% of purchases. Astoundingly, 85% will explore new brands for an "irresistible" deal. Moreover, 83% initiate shopping pre-Thanksgiving, while top stressors include "increasing prices" (52%) and crowded stores (48%). Concurrently, early shopping motivations encompass budget management (60%) and ensuring on-time arrivals (51%).
🎃 Amazon tops as the primary choice for online Halloween shopping, says report
Amazon experienced an early surge in Halloween searches, with a notable 395% increase for adult costumes in August. Predominantly driven by Gen Z and millennials, this surge aligns with the broader trend of initiating holiday shopping seasons earlier due to evolving consumer behavior. While movie-inspired costumes remain in vogue, Halloween spending is poised to reach a record $12.2 billion, even as 45% intend to curb their expenditure.
