Meta faces a record $1.3 billion fine from the European Data Protection Board (EDPU) for violating GDPR rules by transferring EU user data to the US without proper permissions. Accused of exposing EU users to US surveillance, Meta has been ordered to comply with GDPR or face potential regional suspension. Despite Meta's commitment to appeal and work on a new Data Privacy Framework, legal experts predict an unavoidable significant settlement.

WhatsApp's latest feature allows users to edit sent messages within 15 minutes of submission. Aimed at correcting errors and adding extra context, the feature is activated by long-pressing the sent message and selecting 'Edit'. While edited messages will be marked, an edit history will not be provided. The feature is gradually being made available to users worldwide.

🔍20% of CMOs to invest less in paid search, and SEO this year

According to Gartner's CMO Spend and Strategy survey, 20% of CMOs plan to decrease investments in paid search advertising and SEO in 2023. However, 40% and 46% of CMOs intend to boost their paid search and SEO budgets respectively. Interestingly, 53% are looking to increase investment in social advertising, digital video advertising, and influencer marketing despite stagnant marketing budgets.

TikTok legally challenges Montana's app ban, citing first amendment violation. The ban, first in the U.S., addresses cyber-security concerns of potential Chinese intelligence operations. Even if successful against Montana, a potential White House ban threatens TikTok's U.S. presence.
