While consumers remain cautious, back-to-school shopping boosted categories like electronics (2.4%) and apparel (2.5%). However, sporting goods fell 2.9%. Analysts expect holiday sales to face pressure, emphasizing the need for retailers to invest in customer experience and store improvements. 

🔄 Resale Market Thrives as Stigma Fades

Resale markets are experiencing notable growth, as 58% of Americans report greater enjoyment in purchasing secondhand items. According to OfferUp’s 2024 Recommerce Report, first-time shoppers increased by 35%. Additionally, 72% of respondents believe the stigma around secondhand shopping has diminished, while 74% engage in online selling for supplemental income. The market is expected to expand by 55% by 2029, reaching $291.6 billion.
