📊 Moz launches "Brand Authority" metric for brand strength evaluation

Moz has introduced a "Brand Authority" metric to its Moz Pro SEO toolset and API. This metric, ranging from 1-100, assesses "online brand strength" by combining search intent and volume to reflect a website's branded search terms strength. While it is currently based on U.S. data, expansion to other regions is planned for 2024. Unlike the existing Domain Authority metric, Brand Authority captures broader organizational influence signals. Top-scoring brands include Google, YouTube, and Facebook.

🔍 New Insights: X's Updated Feed Algorithm Priorities

X's latest algorithm changes prioritize engagement with a focus on replies, emphasizing them even over retweets in the main feed. This shift promotes ad revenue sharing as replies can house more ads. Additionally, X is bolstering video content, with an aim to rival YouTube, and replacing the "You might like" tag with "Popular videos". There's a push for content from creators with active subscriptions, and posts now have a longer lifespan, being visible for up to 48 hours. Notably, Elon Musk warns against posting links and X penalizes mentions of competitors 'Threads'.

Google Merchant Center is sending out warnings for "inappropriate titles" affecting Google Discover and Demand Gen ads. Products not aligning with Google's standards risk reduced visibility in the U.S. This reduction could harm campaigns' revenue and ROI. To avoid penalties, titles should adhere to quality requirements, avoid offensive language, placeholder text, poor formatting, be under 10 words before a delimiter, and exclude excessive details like SKUs. Some marketers believe there might be a "bug" in these warnings, as some "harmless" titles are flagged.

🚀 Meta Boosts Thread Features Amid Slowing App Growth

Threads, after an initial surge reaching 100 million sign-ups, has seen a 90% growth decline, currently standing at 120 million users. Despite reduced engagement, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg remains hopeful for its potential. Upcoming features include a desktop app, improved search, a "liked Threads" section, and enhanced notification controls. These updates aim to enhance the user experience, ensuring Threads can compete effectively in the social media space.

🚫 Block OpenAI's Web Crawler Easily!

OpenAI introduces an option for website operators to block its GPTBot crawler from scraping content for training GPT models. Sites can disallow GPTBot via the Robots.txt file or block its IP. OpenAI emphasizes the bot avoids content behind paywalls, or violating their policies. This move could be OpenAI's effort towards letting users opt out of data usage in AI training, amid growing concerns about data privacy, unauthorized content use, and the source of AI training data in the industry.
