In Q1 2024, U.S. Google search ad spending increased 17% YoY, with click growth down to 4%. CPC rose 13%, particularly in Shopping ads, pushing retail CPCs up 20% YoY. Performance Max campaigns gained efficiency over standard campaigns whereas rising costs and slower click growth are concerning trends for advertisers.
